The Chocolate Connection: Culture, history and community – Nathaniel Mich
A Rochester native, Nathaniel is the Head Chocolatier and Ice Cream Maker at Hedonist Artisan Chocolates and Ice Cream in the South Wedge. Prior to taking the lead in the kitchen, he worked with the Education department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Nathaniel majored in Anthropology, Geology and Archaeological Studies at Oberlin College (Class of 2010, Phi Beta Kappa), focusing on culinary anthropology and the history of food. In particular, he is interested in how people use food and its associated material culture to navigate culture contact situations. In the kitchen, he enjoys showcasing local ingredients and creating unexpected combinations of sweet and savory flavors.
