one dance co. was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota and has been active in Rochester, New York since December 2011. Directed by Erika Ruegemer, the artists of one dance co. collaborate to create temporary worlds within empty spaces or already existing environments through movement, costumes, and props. This year they performed their original works “I Won’t Dance” and “In You Is Home”, at THE YARDS collaborative art space, “Scene and Herd”, a structured improvisation that began inside Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) and made it’s way onto the corner of East Avenue and Scio Street during the Rochester Jazz Festival. They presented at TEDx Rochester at Geva in November 2012, improvised at various events, and taught movement classes and a summer intensive.
