These are some of our favorite TED talks chosen by our 2018-2019 team of students. Up next is Emilia, a senior at Allendale Columbia School.
The TED talk I chose is called How to Stop Screwing Yourself Over. I chose this video because I feel like I can relate to it a lot. The woman talks about how everyone wants at least one thing in their life and according to her, getting what you want is easy. She says that the reason people think it’s so hard to get what they want is that they are too lazy or don’t force themselves to do it. She also says that because people are too lazy to take their own initiative into getting what they want, they usually just tell themselves that they are fine without it. In my opinion, I agree with this because I am the exact same. If I want something, I don’t do anything about it and eventually just tell myself that I don’t need it. Just like most people, I can’t bring myself to do whatever I can to get what I want. The women in the video make good points about how to stop “screwing yourself over”. I feel that most people are like me and everyone has wants/needs, people just need to start doing things about it and stop putting those wants and needs aside.
