As the new semester begins we will be introducing our 2017-2018 team through their favorite TED Talks. Next up is Tori, a Senior at Allendale Columbia School.
The second I was assigned to share a TED talk I knew exactly what I was going to present. I had been involved with TEDx before this class. I had seen so many videos that told so many stories, and once the video was over I always walked away with something I hadn’t had before. Every time I’d walk away from the screen I’d think. I would question their idea and wonder how they came upon their resolution. Quite simply walking myself through their thought process, trying to see the world from their perspective, but this talk was different. It was different because I didn’t have to. I wanted to share this talk because secretly it was what I was thinking all along. From the day I saw this talk I wanted to share it, but I was scared because for me, the story felt like it was something personal. Likewise, any feedback would feel personal as well; however, this assignment was the perfect opportunity. I must admit that our stories are far from being the same. It’s the idea that we want our audience to walk away with that is the same. This idea that we both think is worth sharing. That is what compelled me to chose this TED talk.
