As the new semester begins we will be introducing our 2017-2018 team through their favorite TED Talks. Next up is Evelyn, a returning TEDxAllendaleColumbiaSchool team member, a Senior at Allendale Columbia School.
At TEDxBoise Kate Simonds speaks about her frustration in the belittling on teen voices. She explains that there is no age on when your ideas become valid and your maturity is full. The TEDx video I picked I’m 17 because I think it’s very relevant to how our TEDx event is put on. In the course we quickly learn how to be independent thinkers and take initiative. It becomes a job, where we run the show. In traditional life student are so used to being talked at. At TEDxAllendaleColumbiaSchool the students are part of the conversation. This can build confidence in teens to continue work independently, preparing us for the real world. This event is proof that Kate Simonds is right in her talk. Students working with adults and each other can create something successful.
